Career pathways
Starting from a candidate's current skills, Astris HR suggests three to five realistic next roles they could grow into — not just the job they held before. Each pathway lists the exact skills and certifications to add, and estimates how many months of training it takes.

What a pathway includes
Every suggestion is clear, traceable to its source, and saved on the candidate record — so the caseworker and the candidate always see the same plan.
The candidate's most recent job and the next role we recommend, matched against public labor-market data.
The smallest set of new skills the candidate needs to make the move realistic — the gap between where they are and where they're headed.
Any credentials required for the next role, with the typical cost and time to earn them where that's known.
How long the training takes: 0 means ready now, 3-6 means some training, 12 or more means significant retraining. When a move isn't realistic, we say so instead of suggesting it.
A short, plain explanation of the recommendation, based on the candidate's actual skills and what the next role actually requires.
Three to five pathways — some close to the current role, at least one that involves more training. Enough to hold a real conversation, not just a single default.
The same four steps a caseworker sees on the candidate record — one clear ladder from today's role to a supervisor position, with the pay increase at each step in plain sight.
How we build them
Today, pathways combine a trusted base of labor-market knowledge with careful reasoning. Over time, they also learn from the real career moves candidates make on the platform.
| Today — Grounded recommendations | Astris HR reviews the candidate's profile alongside trusted labor-market data and produces clear next-step suggestions. Each pathway shows the specific skills it's built on, so the reasoning is easy to check. |
| Next — Learning from real moves | As more candidates advance through the platform, Astris HR learns which career moves people actually make and how often — and folds those real outcomes back into its suggestions. |
| Focused scope | Suggestions concentrate on industries where refugees and immigrants are most often hired: warehouse, healthcare aide, food service, manufacturing, hospitality, construction, agriculture, transportation, retail, office support, and cleaning. |
| Traceable | Every pathway records how it was generated, the skills it drew on, and a snapshot of the candidate's profile at the time. If the recommendation is updated later, you can compare the old and new versions side by side. |
